The Institute at The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod
More than 350 church workers and laypeople gathered July 25-28 at Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill., to take part in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s triennial Institute on Liturgy, Preaching and Church Music.
For four days they studied, prayed and sang God’s Word while pondering the conference theme, “The Just Live by Faith: Make This Plain in Sermon, Service, Song.”
The Rev. William Weedon, director of LCMS Worship, said the theme was chosen in conjunction with the 500th anniversary of the Reformation: “We thought right away of the seminal text for Luther’s joyous Gospel ‘aha!’ That led us right to Habakkuk and there it was, staring us in the face.”
Recenty, Pastor Herberts and Charity Norwood from St. Paul's Lutheran Church attended the Worship Institute. Check out some of the videos below:

Mission for the Quarter
The Sunday School Mission for the quarter is sharing God's Mighty Word. This mission is an outreach project that sends Bible based literature to kids around the United States. It focuses on reaching inner city kids, Hispanic kids, Native American kids, and kids who are in crisis. It is sponsored by Concordia Gospel Outreach. It is our prayer that you will be a part of this mission to help boys and girls learn about our Lord. Remember that 4th and 5th Sundays are mission Sundays.
Trudging through the week? Work and anxiety piling sky high? Take it to the Lord in prayer! Join us for a short order of prayer Wednesday mornings at 6:30 a.m. Come casual.
The first Sunday in each month is designated as mite Sunday. Mite box contributions amount to millions of dollars that support District and International projects. The LWML has placed mite boxes in the back of the church and it is our prayer that the congregation will join us as we give our mites so that the Gospel can be shared with the whole world.
Inkjet Cartridges Recycling
Inkjet cartridges recycling continues. The basket for empties is located in the church office.
There is a real need for people to step up with altar care. It is not that hard to do and does not take that much time. If you would like to help but do not know what to do, Charlotte Stepusin, Ann Kilian, or Ruby Seaman would be happy to help you learn.
We have a number of devotional books - Portals of Prayer and other booklets that are piling up in the copy room that maybe of interest to individuals. If anyone has an opportunity to deliver them to nursing homes, prisons, or hospitals, please contact Vicki at the church office.
